LOVELAND, Colo. (1/30/11) – The University of Colorado men’s hockey team will look to spoil the Colorado State Rams’ party as the Buffaloes will participate in the 2011 Rocky Mountain Faceoff at the Budweiser Event Center on Friday Feb. 4 at 7:05 p.m.
In recent years, the Rocky Mountain Faceoff has become a fundraiser for the CSU hockey team.
CU participated in the first in-state rivalry game at the Budweiser Event Center in 2009. Last year, the Rams played the Northern Colorado Bears at the Bud Center, which is home to the Colorado Eagles of the Central Hockey League.
Tickets for the game can be bought online at www.comcasttix.com, by phone at 877-544-8499, or at the Budweiser Event Center Box Office. Ticket prices will vary, but student and child tickets will have a $3 discount on them.
Colorado is currently 12-9-1-1 on the season and ranked fifth in the ACHA West Division coming into this weekends’ series at Central Oklahoma.
The No. 4 Rams have won both meetings against the Buffs this season, on Oct. 29 at the Pepsi Center in Denver and on Nov. 5 in Fort Collins.
The Buffs will host the Rams the following weekend, Friday Feb. 11 at the CU Rec Center at 7:15 p.m. CU will close out the weekend on Saturday Feb. 12 against the No. 3 San Jose State Spartans.
It looks as if both CU and CSU will have to go to regionals on Feb. 25-26 in Utah since San Jose State is hosting nationals and gets an automatic bid. Because of that, the remaining two games between CU and CSU are important for determining the seeding in Utah. The final rankings will be released no later than Friday Feb. 18.
