Some of the CU riders who will be participating at the event include Kevin Wright, Joey Dryer, Derrek Shorrock and Luke Schultz.
The snowboarding competition will begin at 8 a.m. with a preliminary qualifier followed by the finals. There will be 20 competitors in the men’s qualifier and 10 in the finals while there will be 12 competitors in the women’s qualifier and six in the finals. The winners will receive a $7,000 purse prize.
CBS Sports Network’s Alt Games, now in its sixth year, is a one-of-a-kind event showcasing college action championships in sports including skiing, snowboarding, wakeboarding, flowboarding, skateboarding and beach volleyball. Slopestyle skiing will also compete at Saturday’s Alt Games with snowboarding.
CBS Sports will cover Saturday’s competition and will air the Alt Games on television on Sunday May 1 at 3:30 p.m. MT on the CBS Sports Network.
Along with the Alt Games, Copper Mountain will host an urban rail jam and the start of the Sunsation Music Festival with Gin Blossoms headlining on Saturday. The festival will also be on Sunday and Apr. 23-24.
