HOUSTON (4/3/11) – The University of Colorado men’s and women’s club volleyball teams will head to the 2011 NCVF Collegiate Club Volleyball Championships this week. The tournament will begin on Thursday Apr. 7 and will go until Saturday Apr. 9 at the Houston Reliant Center.
At the national tournament, 330 men’s and women’s club teams will be competing for the title of national champion.
The men’s team finished third in the country last season and will look to improve on that result this year. In 2009, Colorado’s men’s team finished fifth in the country.
CU’s men’s team has dealt with multiple injuries this season and will be starting two freshmen at nationals. However, the Buffs returned their entire starting lineup to practice last week and expect a healthy roster when competition begins on Thursday.
The women’s squad has had a good regular season that featured a second place finish at the 41 team Las Vegas Open on Mar. 18-19.
