BOULDER (4/13/11) – The University of Colorado fly fishing club is inviting the CU and Boulder community to help out in their cleanup day of Boulder Creek on Saturday Apr. 23. All volunteers are welcome to help out in the cleanup.
Club members and volunteers alike will meet at approximately 9 a.m. in parking lot 169 on the north side of Folsom Field, next to the creek and the football practice fields.
The trash pickup will begin at 9 a.m. and will go until 1 p.m. Bags and gloves will be provided, however it is recommended that volunteers bring any gear that may help aid in pick up. Waders, for example, may be helpful during the pickup process.
After the cleanup, the community service group will head up for a fun day of fishing either in the canyon or in warm water areas around Boulder. This will be a great chance for inexperienced fishers to learn some tips and improve their skills.
Later in the day, a barbecue will be held back in town as a thank you to everyone for helping out. It is recommended that people bring their own water to the cleanup and to the barbecue.
