Colorado Falls Short of Win against Rival CSU Rams

BOULDER – The University of Colorado Division I women’s ice hockey team lost 2-1 Saturday night against in state rival, the Colorado Rams.

Colorado tied the Rams 2-2 in their first game of the season and came out with a 4-1 victory in their last meeting.

Although this loss decreased their record on the season to 4-12-0-1, it was an exciting night for goaltender Caroline Schweitzer. Schweitzer played her first American Collegiate Hockey Association game of the season.

“The girls played really well,” said Kristen Van Slyke. “Our problem was that we could not find the back of the net for more than one goal.”

The team looks forward to competing against CSU again this season on Friday, Feb. 10, at Epic Ice Arena in Fort Collins.

The Division 1 team will continue play against the Mavericks, Friday, Jan. 27 at 7:30 p.m. at the CU Ice Arena. They will then travel to Westminister, to compete against Lynx on Saturday, Jan. 28 at 5:45 p.m. at the Promenade.
