Five Individual Titles For Cycling At Conference Championships

WINTER PARK, Colo. (9/27/10) – The University of Colorado cycling team had a strong showing at the collegiate mountain bike conference championships on Sept. 25-26 with the Buffs taking home five individual wins.

In the men’s races, Joey Schusler won Men’s A dual slalom race on Saturday and the Men’s A downhill on Sunday. Also Blake Harlan finished fourth in the cross country race on Saturday and Matthew Wiebe finished second in Sunday morning’s Men’s A short track race.

On the women’s side, the Buffs took home three individual wins with Abby Mickey winning both the Women’s B cross country race on Saturday and short track race on Sunday while Flora Duffy was victorious the Women’s A short track race.

Colorado has one race left until Nationals on Oct. 16-17 in Truckee, Calif. with them racing at Mesa State over the weekend. Currently the Buffs are in second place in the conference behind Fort Lewis, but no matter what happens this weekend CU will still be able to send riders to Nationals.

Also over the weekend, Colorado’s Charlie “Mac” Cassin finished fifth in the individual pursuit at the Collegiate Track Nationals in Indianapolis, Ind.
