Men's Lacrosse Releases 2011 Regular Season Schedule

BOULDER (9/29/10) – University of Colorado men's lacrosse head coach Mike Ryder released the Buffaloes’ 2011 regular season schedule on Wednesday afternoon.  The Buffs will play in 16 regular season games in their spring campaign, which includes a rather competitive schedule on the road.

Colorado finished their corrugated 2010 run at 6-7 amidst a shortened schedule and a mid-season coaching change. CU eventually lost to Arizona State in the Men's Collegiate Lacrosse Association national tournament in May.

The Buffaloes will open the 2011 season at home against Kansas on Mar. 5, before departing Boulder for the first of three road trips. They will travel to Utah first to faceoff in a three day, three RMLC Conference game weekend against Utah State, BYU and finally Utah.

CU will then have a five day rest before heading to the Pacific Northwest to play Simon Fraser in Seattle, Wash. then to Portland, Ore. where they'll face Minnesota-Duluth and the Oregon Ducks.  The Buffs will then hold a six game homestead which includes a rematch between Colorado and Arizona State.  The Sun Devils ended the Buffs' season in the quarterfinals of the MCLA tournament last season in a 13-11 nail biter.

“It will be a great mid-season showdown between two of the best teams in the league,” Ryder said on the game with ASU.  “Arizona State looks to be an even more dangerous team then last season and the Buffaloes hope to come out on the other side of this match-up.”

In addition to ASU, Colorado will host Arizona, Wyoming, Chapman, Texas Tech and Colorado State in the annual Rocky Mountain Lacrosse Showdown at INVESCO Field at Mile High in Denver.  After the Rams, CU will head to the East Coast to wrap up their regular season against Boston College, UConn, and New Hampshire.

CU’s fall agenda has also become public; they will play BYU and the University of Denver on Oct. 16 at the DU campus.

“We are extremely excited about playing against BYU and DU,” Ryder said of his teams fall schedule.  “Playing one of our most heated rivals in the RMLC is a great experience for our new guys to get acquainted with the MCLA and the passion that goes into our games. Also playing the Denver Pioneers is a great opportunity for our program and the MCLA.”

Colorado will end fall ball with their alumni weekend Oct 22-23 and the Pumpkin Shootout versus Northern Colorado, CSU and Regis University on Oct. 30.
