BOULDER (5/2/11)– The University of Colorado women’s lacrosse team will be joining the Rocky Mountain Women’s Lacrosse League next season.
So far through 2011, the Buffaloes have had a great season, going 15-1 and earning the number one seed in the Women’s Collegiate Lacrosse Associates National Championships.
CU will look to have similar success against strong competition in the RMWLL next year. The Buffs will have to play in-state rival and perennial powerhouse Colorado State, as well as tough out of state competition such as Brigham Young. The University of Colorado will also be facing nationally ranked division II schools in Westminster, the University of Denver and the University of Utah.
The RMWLL is happy to celebrate its ten year anniversary by adding CU to the conference.
“Adding the University of Colorado to the RMWLL brings professionalism to our conference,” said Rocky Mountain Women’s Lacrosse League president David Pomeroy. “The addition of Colorado will bring more skill and talent to what is already an elite conference.”
For the past three years, CU has been playing as an independent in the WCLA.
CU will begin nationals on Wednesday against Midland University in Scottsdale, Ariz. The team is hoping to join the RMWLL as defending national champions come next season.
