LEXINGTON, Ky. (5/8/11) – The University of Colorado equestrian team finished their season this past weekend with a good showing at their first ever Intercollegiate Horse Show Association Nationals at the Kentucky Horse Park.

During the competition, the Buffaloes picked up three top 10 finishes in the English events and ended up tied for 11th against some of the country’s best riders.

Karlyn Hobbs finished fifth in the individual novice equitation over fences, Whitney Wickes finished sixth in the team intermediate equitation over fences and Jennifer Burke finished eighth in the team open equitation on the flat.

Burke also represented the region in the Cacchione Cup competition and finished 32nd overall. The Cacchione Cup is given to the best rider in the open division, which is the toughest division.

Colorado qualified for nationals after winning their region and finishing second at zones on Apr. 9-10.
