BOULDER (9-12-12) —
The
University of Colorado men’s gold soccer team travels to Durango, Colo. to compete
in a two game weekend against opponent, Fort Lewis College.
The
Buffs are coming back from an exciting two game winning streak against in state
rival Colorado State University (1-0) and Colorado Mesa University (5-2). They
hope to take these victories and direct the positive energy towards their
upcoming competitions.
“We will attempt to sharpen our offense during this preparation week
and hopefully in turn match or better the six goals we put in last weekend,”
said center midfielder George Ryan.
“As we play more together I believe our team will become more comfortable with
each other, which hopefully will result in a more free flowing game and
ultimately more wins.”
The Buffaloes will work to defend their 2-0 mark against Fort Lewis’s
3-1 record on the 2012 season.
“One of the great strengths of our team is our defense,” said Ryan.
“We defend very well as a team, and take pride in keeping a clean sheet.”
The team not only strategizes their tactics for this weekend’s games,
but looks at the season as a whole and plans for their spot they hope to
acquire at nationals.
“We returned most of the team from last year, which is important, come
nationals,” said defenseman Scott Funk. “It
is a huge advantage to have experience at that tournament. Plus we have
some new players who fill the missing slots quite nicely.”
The team will take the field at 3 p.m. on Saturday and continue play
on Sunday morning at 9 a.m. Both games will be held in Durango.
